REPLACING EAR PADS ON THE T1 (3. GEN.), AMIRON WIRELESS AND MMX 300

It’s a familiar problem. After a period of intensive use, your headphones no longer look as immaculate as they used to.

But that’s no reason to put them to one side and stop using them. Anything but! Many models allow you to simply replace the ear pads and give your headphones that “fresh-from-the factory” look again.

We’ve already showed you the process for PRO headphones in this blog article. Today, we are talking about the T1 (3rd generation), Amiron wireless and MMX 300 models.

Replacing ear pads on the T1 (3rd gen.) and T5 (3rd gen.)

You need:

1.A pair of replacement ear pads for T1 or T5

2. A flat, blunt tool such as a screwdriver or the handle of a kitchen fork

Step-by-step guide:

Step 1: Hold one of your T1 or T5 ear cups firmly in your hand, ensuring that the second ear cup is not in the way.

Step 2: Take your flat, blunt tool and insert it gently between pad and ear cup on the exterior of the housing.

Step 3: Carefully lever the pad off the ear cup. As soon as you hear a clicking sound, you can simply lift off the pad.

Step 4: There’s an absorber disc lying loosely in the ear cup. Replace this with the new disc.

Step 5: Now take hold of the new ear pad. Ensure that the noses on the clamping ring attached to the pad align with the recesses on the ear cup. The small square-shaped nose must be at the top.

Step 6: Now press the pad carefully onto the ear cup all the way around. Once you hear a series of clicks and the ear pad is firmly attached, you have completed the job.

If you have problems pressing the ear pad onto the ear cup, rotate the pad slightly and then press again.

Has your ear pad simply slipped off the ear cup, or you don’t need to replace the foam disc? Then you can simply thread the rubber rim of the ear pad over the groove at the edge of the cup and attach the new pad by rotating it in the direction of the arrow.

Replacing ear pads on the Amiron wireless, Amiron wireless copper und Amiron home

You need:

1. A pair of replacement ear pads for your Amiron

2. A flat, blunt tool such as a screwdriver or the handle of a kitchen fork

Step-by-step guide:

Step 1: Assemble all the things you need and take hold of your Amiron wireless, Amiron wireless copper or Amiron home. Ensure that the second ear cup is not in the way.

Step 2: Take your flat, blunt tool and insert it gently between pad and ear cup on the exterior of the housing.

Step 3: Carefully lever the pad off the ear cup. If you don’t succeed the first time, move your tool a little to the left or right and try again. Once you hear a clicking sound, the pad is loose and you can easily lift it off.

Step 4: Replace the foam disc lying loosely in the ear cup with the new disc.

Step 5: You can now fit the new ear pad. The clamping ring attached to the pad has small noses around the edge. You must ensure that these align with the recesses in the ear cup. In the case of the Amiron models, the small square-shaped nose must be turned to the side. The more precisely this nose is aligned with the square recess in the ear cup, the easier it is to attach the new pad.

Step 6: Assuming you have placed the pad precisely on the ear cup, you can now carefully press it into position all the way round. Once you hear several clicks, the ear pad is firmly attached.

If you have problems pressing the ear pad onto the ear cup, try to rotate the pad slightly to the left or right and then press again.

You don’t need to replace the foam disc, or your ear pad has simply just slipped off the ear cup? Then you can simply thread the rubber rim of the ear pad over the groove at the edge of the cup by rotating it in the direction of the arrow.

Replacing ear pads on the MMX 300

You need:

1. A pair of replacement ear pads for your MMX 300

2. A small flat-head screwdriver or a flat, blunt tool such as the handle of a kitchen fork

Step-by-step guide:

Step 1: Assemble all the things you need and then take hold of your MMX 300 so that the second ear cup is not in the way. First adjust the headband to the largest size possible.

Step 2: Detach the old pad from the edge of the housing. You will see the clamping ring underneath.

Step 3: Now you can use your blunt tool to carefully lever the clamping ring out of the ear cup. Insert the tool between the clamping ring and housing. As soon as you hear a clicking sound, the clamping ring has come loose and you can remove it from the ear cup.

Step 4: Remove the foam disc now lying loosely in the ear cup and replace it with the new disc.

Step 5: Place the clamping ring on the new foam disc. Ensure that the noses on the clamping ring align with the recesses on the ear cup. Press the clamping ring firmly into position on all sides.

Step 6: You can now fit the new ear pad. A delicate touch is required here. Push the upper edge of the housing under the rubber rim. Now pull the ear pad over the edge of the housing on all sides. Once you have done this, you can twist the pad to check it is sitting correctly.

If necessary, you can warm up the rubber lip of the new ear pad using a hair dryer (but not at the hottest setting!). This makes it softer and more pliable.
